Montessori Teacher Education Center San Francisco Bay Area

The Early Childhood Teacher Credential Course prepares the adult learner for working with children two andj one-half to six years old. The length of the Early Childhood Course is twenty-two months.

320 Academic hours and 540 Practicum hours

Instruction during the first year of academic instruction is at Acorn Montessori School, 1215 Chanticleer Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA. 95062.   During the first year of instruction the following four (4) curriculum areas are presented: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language Arts, and Mathematics. These four curriculum areas are provided in Santa Cruz.

The remaining curriculum areas (2) of Child Development and the Cultural Subjects (Physical & Life Science and Social Studies) are occur in Sunnyvale, CA.

During the second year the Student is in the paid practicum / student teaching at a School selected by the Student with Center approval.  Monthly seminars from August through June occur in Sunnyvale, CA.

Upon sucessful completion of the twenty-two month progrtam MTEC-SFBA issues the Satte approved Certificate of Completion, and AMS issues the American Montessori Society Early Childhood Teacher Credential.
